The BRC global standard is formulated by the British Retail Consortium and the British retail group, certification bodies and academic groups from time to time, and is accepted by the majority of retail groups in the Commonwealth of Nations and Europe as a mandatory audit standard for their suppliers. At present, BRC has been recognized by the International Federation of Food Retailers (CIES) and recommended to its members and suppliers. Establishing BRC standards can improve supplier standards and consistency, avoid product errors, eliminate multiple audits by food manufacturers, and support retailers at all stages of the production supply chain. Under the same conditions, consumers will give priority to purchasing products that have obtained BRC certification, because this is a quality guarantee for consumers.
The BRC standard has been accepted by UKAS as a third-party audit standard recognized by an accreditation body. BSI has been accredited by UKAS to provide certification to the BRC series of standards.
If your products are going to be sold in European stores, BRC certification is undoubtedly the most effective pass.
Following the success of the BRC food technical standards, and encouraged by the UK national government, trade groups in the UK continue to work together to achieve further agreement and success in other areas. This has led to the advent of other BRC standards. The BRC Global Food Standards include four standards:
BRC Global Standard - Food
BRC Global Standard - Consumer Goods
BRC Global Standard - Food Packaging
BRC Global Standard - Status of Non-GMO Foods
