Since the release of the new ISO 9001:2015 edition, the QC 080000 standard based on the ISO 9001 framework has also been revised accordingly. At the request of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), SGS, as the leader of the QC 080000 standard revision group, once again took the lead in drafting and summarizing the first draft of the new version of the standard. On May 22, 2017, the English version of the QC 080000:2017 standard was officially released globally, and the simplified Chinese and traditional Chinese versions of the standard were also released simultaneously.

The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is one of the three most authoritative international standardization bodies in the world, responsible for formulating international standards in the electrical and electronic fields. This time IEC invited SGS to take the lead in drafting the new version of QC 080000 standard again, which is also a full affirmation of SGS's professionalism and authority in the detection and management of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products. SGS took the lead in drafting the standard, which not only enhanced the influence of third-party certification bodies in Hazardous Substance Process Management (HSPM), but also actively promoted the development of the global IECQ Hazardous Substance Process Management System. It is believed that the release of this new version of the standard will also open a new era for the development of the global hazardous substance process management system.

At the International Electrotechnical Commission Electronic Component Quality Assessment System (IECQ) annual series meeting held recently in Singapore, as the chairman of IECQ Working Group 5 responsible for revising the QC 080000 standard, Senior Manager of Product and Service Development of SGS Certification and Enterprise Optimization Department Mr. You Tianhong also led the technical experts of the revision group to conduct technical communication on the new version of QC 080000 standard.

According to Dr. Chen Qingjin, the main drafter of the new version of the standard in the QC 080000 revision working group and a senior expert in the field of SGS hazardous substances management, in terms of the transfer arrangement, the deadline for the transfer of the new version of QC 080000 is September 15, 2019, that is, ISO 9001: 12 months after the transition deadline for the 2015 edition.

Important changes in the new version include:

· Consistent with the new ISO 9001:2015 architecture for user convenience;

· Adapt to the latest development of global regulations on the control of hazardous substances in products, helping users to meet the latest requirements of regulations;

· In response to the requirements of relevant regulatory documents, the requirements for documented information were further clarified;

· Add or refine requirements that are of great significance to the management of hazardous substances;

· Considering the specific requirements of large global companies in the control of hazardous substances, the management requirements explicitly required by large international companies are more concretely reflected;

Add some guidance notes to guide enterprises to pay attention to specific requirements or take effective measures;

· Added two appendices to explain the standard clause requirements corresponding to the EU RoHS Directive and China RoHS.
