QC080000:2017 new version of the standard officially released
Time:2022-03-24 Clicks:

The QC080000 standard is issued by IECQ, a subsidiary of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), to help companies implement effective management of hazardous substances (HS) in their product parts and components, and to demonstrate that the company's products or parts are in compliance with relevant countries and regions. The capabilities of laws and regulations such as the EU's RoHS and WEEE directives are applicable to manufacturers of electronic and electrical products, components and raw materials.

This standard is a hazardous substance management system standard based on ISO9001. With the publication of the 2015 edition of the ISO9001 standard, the QC080000 standard has also been revised accordingly. The QC080000:2017 standard has now been published in May 2017, and the English version of the standard has now been officially released worldwide.

Intertek is a member of the fifth working group of IECQ, responsible for the drafting and formulation of the QC080000 standard. At the International Electrotechnical Commission Electronic Component Quality Evaluation System (IECQ) annual meeting held in Singapore, Tim Lee, senior project manager and senior lecturer of Intertek's Commercial Assurance Department, participated in the technical discussion of the new QC080000 standard on behalf of Intertek. The main changes in the new version of the standard include the following:

The structure is newly adjusted, based on the Annex High Level Structure of the ISO/IEC Directive;

Introduce the concept of risk management;

Clarified the relationship between China RoHS and standards, and the application of EU RoHS in QC 080000:2017;

More clearly defined documented specific evidence, such as supplier declaration form, material composition and possible hazardous substance composition (also clarified the IEC query path for material declaration composition);

Clarified the methods of monitoring and measuring products, such as EN62321 by EU RoHS;

Further clarification: QC080000:2017 cannot remove design and development.

IECQ also has requirements for the certification conversion time of the new version of QC080000:2017, that is, certified companies can apply for the 2017 version certification after September 1, 2017; all existing HSPM customers must complete it before September 14, 2019 Revision work, otherwise the certificate will be invalid; starting from July 1, 2018, the application of new customers of the 2012 version of QC080000 will no longer be accepted, that is, the application must be in accordance with QC 080000:2017. For customers who have been certified and are applying for certification, the above time limit should be paid attention to.

Intertek is one of the earliest institutions to obtain IECQ accreditation for testing and certification of hazardous substances, and is also an IECQ-authorized chief auditor training institution. In order to continue to promote the application of new standards, Intertek will conduct national traveling seminars to analyze standard changes and discuss coping strategies for customers.
